Club Board Recruiting

Club board recruiting is happening right now, and it is an exciting time. However, with Wharton being a large school, it is inevitable that rejection will happen at some point. That being said, we have asked clubs to be timely in their response, yes or no, and we believe that everyone should be able to ask for feedback upon request if you are unsuccessful. If any clubs give you a hard time about this, please let WGA know.

Silent Disco Tickets Live on Saturday (and other updates)

TL;DR

  1. Limited Silent Disco Tickets go live THIS SATURDAY at 12pm (ticket link here) for Saturday 9/18

  2. We are moving Walnut Walk (originally 9/23) to a later date, most likely October

  3. Wellness Event 9/28 (free HIIT classes!)

  4. Bookmark the-wga.com, it’s got a ton of cool resources!

  5. Follow us on WGA Instagram!

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a restful long weekend and a good week. We know that there have been a lot of changes going on (and no one predicted a flood), but we are going to keep soldiering on! See below for some key updates:

Silent Disco

The inaugural Wharton Silent Disco will be happening on Saturday, September 18th, starting at 5:30pm and going until 9:30pm! This event will take place OUTSIDE on the South Green (next to the Hamlin Tennis Center on Google Maps). For those of you who don’t know, at a Silent Disco you are given a headphone set which you can switch back and forth between 3 channels, with your headphone lights turning red, green or blue depending on which channel you’re on. The three channels will be EDM, Pop/Top 40 and Hip-Hop, DJ’d the first two hours by 1Ys including DJ Dolly P (Dolapo Salawu), DJ K-Beats (Konyin Adesoye), DJ D.Cat (Dan Cataldi) and DJ Ash (Ashley Schammel), and the last two hours will be DJ’d by 2Ys including DJ KozMoS (Kennan Murphy-Sierra), DJ Yo Dope (Yohanna Pepa) and DJ BonBon (Jordan Bonneville). If it is supposed to rain, we will postpone the event to a later date.

There will be giant inflatables to play with, a variety of lights and smoke machines. This will be a ticketed event, and limited tickets will go on sale on Saturday at 12pm (hopefully you are not too hungover from the White Party). You can buy your tickets HERE starting Saturday at 12pm. No alcohol will be included in the ticket price, but it will be significantly cheaper than the R&B Balls. We should be able to get an alcohol permit to serve alcohol there, so stay tuned on the details. We are also working on getting food trucks/food options. For 2Ys, there will be the Cluster Olympics occurring nearby from 11am-3pm, and a pub from 3-5pm-ish with free alcohol.

The dress code will be “Athleisure”, so just basically what you all wear anyway.

This event will also require Green Open Pass, and masking when not actively drinking. It will abide by all local and university COVID regulations. There are LIMITED tickets so buy soon to avoid disappointment!

Walnut Walk

Given that we have so many events going on in September, the Silent Disco being only 5 days beforehand, to give Cluster Presidents a bit more time to plan, and the fact that Walnut Walk is mostly indoors, we are going to push this a couple weeks. Stay tuned for a new date!

Wellness Events!

PRIVATE MBA FITNESS CLASS AT POTTRUCK!

The instructors at Pottruck have graciously offered to host a private MBA fitness event on Tuesday, 9/28! There will be both a simultaneous 45 min spin class and HIIT class starting at 5:30 PM. Each class will have a capacity of around 14-15 students. After the class, we will have some healthy snacks and drinks outside of Pottruck for you to take and mingle with your fellow MBA classmates.

If you are interested in the event, PLEASE SIGN UP HERE. If you have any questions, please reach out to priyakr@wharton.upenn.edu. Thanks!

Red & Blue Ball COVID Guidelines

We are excited to see everyone in just a few days for both Balls!

In order to have a safe and fun event in accordance with Penn and Philly guidelines, please note that all attendees must (we will be checking):
1. Be fully vaccinated, including +1 guests, as per Penn SHS guidelines.

2. Present a green Open Pass at the entrance of the Ball. Partners are able to get open passes by signing up as Contactors and listing “Wharton Partners Club” as the company.

3. Bring and wear a mask at Moshulu except when actively drinking. When you are not taking a sip, you should be wearing your mask.
You will be denied entrance if you do not bring a mask.

4. To keep your peers safe you also need to take a COVID test within 72 hours. You can do a walk in test today or tomorrow!

As per guidelines, within 24 hours of arriving back to campus from trips, you must be tested via the Penn system (Gateway Test), regardless of vaccination status. There are also free options via Walgreens, CVS, etc.
* To schedule a COVID test or view walk-in hours, please follow this link: https://covidscheduling.upenn.edu/

Let's start off the year with a responsible, unforgettable party!
